In Their Courses Above

November 20, 2023 Dala Town

A night sky event had Lindsborg looking up on Saturday as Cosmosphere staff, Salina Astronomy Club, and National Geographic photographer Jim Richardson all joined forces to celebrate a Starry, Starry Night in Lindsborg.

Richardson presented his National Geographic program Glories of Our Night Sky: Wonders and Worries at the Sundstrom with a focus on the natural beauty above and how urban lighting is stealing away this treasured resource. Cosmosphere staff set up three high powered telescopes on top of Coronado Heights for those with a wristband shuttle ticket. Weather cooperated for the most part, until just past 8pm as clouds from a storm front began to roll in.

Members of the Salina Astronomy Club set up four large telescopes on the grass at Heritage Square for a look at the stars, planets and moon while sharing their deep knowledge of stargazing.

The glance into the immense and amazing heavens above is a cue to be awed and grateful in this Thanksgiving week.
